Can I Afford a Disability Attorney?

"If you hire our firm to handle your Social Security Disability claim we won't charge you a fee up front, our fees are governed by regulation and we're paid a percentage above the retroactive benefits only if we are able to get the claim approved.

We also charge for expenses and some people ask the question, 'Well gosh, those expenses could be high. How much money will that cost?' Expenses are very limited in Social Security Disability claims, unlike regular litigation where you have depositions and lots of experts and so forth. Generally our expenses are for getting copies of updated medical records or getting your treating doctor to complete a form or to write a letter. In most cases the expenses are well under five hundred dollars and sometimes more, but we don't charge for these expenses unless we win the case and we would bill the client at the end of the case after they've been paid their back benefits.

We're often contacted by clients who've had an offer for free representation in their Social Security claim from their Long-Term Disability insurance company. They typically decide not to go with the free representative because they're worried that the representative will be working for the insurance company and not for them. In our law firm, we represent individuals. We don't represent insurance companies."
